Suzan Carsley
Suzan Carsley, interior designer by profession, received her Bachelor of Fine Arts (Environmental/ Interior Design) from Pratt Institute in 1973. She fell in love with the medium of watercolour after seeing an exhibition by Ming Ma in Montreal in 1992. "I was attracted by the vibrancy of his work- something I have never seen before with watercolour".
Suzan studied with Ming Ma from 1993-1997. "He explains watercolour as the fine line between chaos and control. It is a constant battle on the paper but a joy to behold when one succeeds."
For 18 years, Suzan travelled to San Miguel de Allende, Mexico to paint in the exquisite Mexican light.
Suzan moved to the Woodstock area from Montreal in 2011 and is semi retired from the interior design profession. Her passion for watercolour now manifests itself in the captivating New Brunswick landscape.
A member of the Woodstock Art Club, Suzan's work can be seen at Creek Village Gallery in Woodstock and Acanthus Gallery in Grand Falls, or by appointment at her studio in Bedell.

Marlene Kay
Born in Québec, Marlene eldest of a family of seven, showed a great interest for art at a very early age.
At twelve, she received a paint by number kit for Christmas and it wasn't long before the numbers were replaced by her own colours and strokes. Her imagination and creativity soon took over. The touch of the brush on the canvas fascinated and transported her.
Self taught until the age of 22, Marlene took classes with Armande Langelier a student of Francesco Yacourto, to perfect her technique with perspective and brush effect. She was instrumental in the creation of the "Association du Pain de Sucre" and she participated in several group exhibitions between 1977 and 1980. She also had 2 solo showings, sponsored by the Caisse Populaire Desjardins.
In 1984 she travelled to Europe and participated in a group exhibition with "Art au Féminin" and the year after that with a solo showing for the Canadian German Friendship Club. Over 60 pieces of her work were purchased, her canvasses are now spread all over Europe, Canada, and the United States.
Painting, poetry, and sculpture are but one for this artist without frontiers, even when they had to take second place because of other priorities, raising her children and having a career in communication. But, with her children all grown up and now retired, Marlene wants to dedicate herself to art in all its forms and to the teaching of drawing and painting to children and adults.
She uses her own Gallery: Galerie D'Art L'Envol/ L,Envol Art Gallery to teach and help promote local artists and their works.

Ann Kittredge
I am a mixed media artist and I teach drawing, design, and printmaking courses for the University of Maine and Presque Isle. I came late to the formal study of art. I often say that I had a "first life" in science, studying and teaching biology and science for many years. My art often reflects this background. I continue to be fascinated by the connections which I observe between art and science, and much of my imagery arises from a lengthy consideration of issues and phenomena which reside in that area where science, art, and spirituality overlap.
Most recently I have been making mixed median works built with collage, ink, paint, and other media over large intaglio prints (etchings). Working with predetermined imagery and a variety of media poses interesting problems, the creative solution of which probably appeals to my scientific background. The repeated use of intaglio images serves to emphasize a theme while visually uniting the individual pieces in a body of related work. At the same time, the layering of images and media speaks to the levels of meaning, reflecting the physical, intellectual and spiritual concerns which inspire my work.

Nicole Manuel
Growing up in Ontario, Nicole has developed a real love for nature. She is inspired by what she experienced as a child growing up- long walks through the woods, ravines and parks with her mother at her side patiently pointing out bird's nests, trees and pods.
After receiving her diploma at Sheridan College of Craft and Design she moved to Nova Scotia to complete her degree in Fine Arts at NSCAD University.
Here, Nicole was inspired by the fresh air and the cool winds. She owned a Children's art studio; Creative Minds Studio for young artists, where she encouraged her students to explore the beautiful landscapes of Nova Scotia. Many of her projects include views of the shore. Her passion for teaching youth has landed her a nomination in 2014 for the Women of Excellence Award in Nova Scotia.
Nicole worked closely with the McCain's gallery in Florenceville, teaching workshops in schools and has now been teaching her own program of children's art class at the AYR Motor Centre.
She continues to be inspired by nature after moving to New Brunswick 2 years ago. Now living surrounded by woods, Nicole has become inspired by the creatures and plants around her.
Nicole pushes herself and her work to make a statement, albeit a subtle one, which speaks to the fragility and the beauty of life.

Jody McCleary
Self taught in fine arts, my favourite mediums are alcohol reactive marker, watercolour, ballpoint pen, and acrylic. I love to notice nature and how the elements come in play with a specific project, but really favour working with faces. I favour portraits of children, adults, pets, or wildlife. Capturing expression and "that moment" is something that I strive for in my work.

Jeromy Rideout
I discovered my passion for art late in life and found it hard to have my work displayed at local galleries in Carleton County. I rent studio space to promote my work and that of emerging artists. That way people who need a place to start or work are welcome to use the space.

As long as I can remember I have always sketched but have only been painting for about 10 years and only seriously for about the last 5 years.
I use a dry brush technique in acrylics. I am still working out my own particular style but gravitate towards high contrast colourful subjects. I paint what I love including flowers, my family, my dog, people and beautiful rural landscapes of New Brunswick. I especially love to paint faces and landscapes with reflected water. I believe life is a gift and I want to express the gratitude and joy I feel for my life and for creation by inspiring others with my artwork.
